Hand Woven SageoTurttle Pattern
These sageo are the finest offered in Japan today. There are many patterns
and these are all called Bisshamon Kikko or Turtle Shell. The additional
stitches in this pattern add strength to the sageo and the pattern dates
back to Heian Jidai. Notice the "Bokashi" or graduated color
changes over the length of the sageo. These are truly works of art and
are available only in limited quantities as we special order twice a year.
Very stiff, the fusa and himo of the sageo can be passed under steam to
soften or to re-stiffen a high quality sageo.
